The Person Behind The Blog.

Hi I'm Vanessa, I'm an Indigenous Australian Food Blogger, Homemaker & Pacifist. I'm passionate about Food, Animals and Living simply.
I have high functioning autism and it makes me who I am, most people that speak to me wouldn't know and the ones that find out usually say they would never had guessed. "Autism is not contagious, but my smile is." :)
I am a "mostly" self-taught cook, Though I've had some informal training after I left school and I'm using what skills I have obtained from that in this blog to inspire others. I worked for a time as a Meals on Wheels head cook/Volunteer and thought making the name Ive chosen for the blog perfect. I've spent much of my working life in kitchens or volunteering and on the side in the rural fire service and animal rescuing, it played a big part of who I am today. It was important to me to start this blog because I don't believe animals should be used as food, entertainment, nor should they be worn or experimented on.
I love to invent new food ideas and also veganise favorites I grew up with, From time to time I will share a recipe from a favorite blog and offer helpful tips on how you can help yourself, the animals and the planet, The food on my blog is vegan "food for the soul" and that is important from time to time just as much as the healthier things are good for us.

The idea behind my blog is to create recipes for people on budgets that cant afford a lot of expensive ingredients, and for families that may like to cook in bulk from time to time & bring awareness to non vegans, that they don't need to eat animals or bi-products to have what they want....To help ones transitioning to a vegan lifestyle or perhaps are looking to try to help the animals by cooking great tasting meals and goodies that don't involve pain and suffering to them, This blog is exactly that! I love helping others especially the animals, To show that you can make a cake without eggs and a great meal doesn't have to involve animal flesh.

I am just an Aussie girl with disabilities that make it slightly difficult to socialize and get around to much, but that doesn't stop me from getting my vegan message out through my cooking. I hope this blog helps you in your journey and I'm happy to answer any queries you might have.
Thanks for taking the time to visit.
